On 21–22 October 2026, Sabancı University will host the international workshop “Nanomaterials & Quantum AI for Energy Applications” at the Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM). The workshop brings together researchers from Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the United States and China. It is co-organized by the Horizon Europe ARISE project (Advanced BatteRy System and Integration for Generation-4 Solid State CElls) and the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer (ICHMT).

Over two days, participants will discuss how advances in nanomaterials and quantum artificial intelligence can shape the next generation of energy technologies. The program combines materials science, thermal engineering and computational methods. It aims to open an interdisciplinary space where experimental and AI-driven approaches to energy research meet.

The workshop is chaired by Prof. Dr. Ali Koşar (Sabancı University, EFSUN). Dr. Xing Liang (Kingston University London, Quantum AI Research Group) serves as Co-Chair. Opening remarks will be given by Prof. Dr. Emre Erdem (Sabancı University, EFSUN), Prof. Dr. Alpagut Kara (Sabancı University, SUNUM) and Prof. Dr. İlker Tarı (Işık University). The organizing committee includes Prof. Dr. Hongwei Wu (University of Hertfordshire, ENSM Research Group), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Morteza Ghorbani (Sabancı University, EFSUN) and Dr. Omid Moradi (Sabancı University, EFSUN).

Venue: SUNUM, Sabancı University, Istanbul
Participation: In person and online
